 ​Prize - £15 to spend on designs at Meryl Makes


Our September showcase winner has won £15 worth of designs just for showcasing a project using a Meryl Makes Design.

At Meryl Makes we’ve been lucky enough to have Sherri on board as a valued member of our admin team as well as a hard working tester. When I asked Sherri to tell us a little bit more about herself this is what she said……..

My first embroidery machine only had a 4x4 hoop, but I was on top of the world with all the cute little things it could do. I had no clue how to do anything. This opportunity came by accident and I grabbed it.  I soon upgraded to a 5x7 machine and thought that would be it for me. Today I now own a Topaz 50 (Husqvarna) which has up to a 360 X 200mm hoop and this machine doubles as a sewing machine with many fancy stitches available. It was a huge learning curve to switch to this from a Brother.  I also have a Brother 1600 which has three sets of hoops up to 6x10.  Plus a serger and sewing only Brother machine.
I have limited work space with my Topaz being my main machine now. I have this on my favorite work space with my 27” iMac desktop and a extra VIZO tv which I am going to use for an extra screen so I can leave my embroidery directions up for reference when I’m stitching, if I want to.  I have three machines set up in my hubby’s office room…..just one corner of it. And I set up a cutting table and materials on our front porch which gets freezing cold in the winter. I live in Minnesota. I have to either cut fast or bring what I need inside to cut.  
My friend Beth, is the one who really got me into loving embroidery. She showed me an Anita design on her machine and it was just beautiful. I’ve learned so much over the years but a very good share of it was after I happened to become fast friends with Meryl. I actually came across a design of hers as a freebie and it just stitched out so  perfect and it was so cute… And then as I joined the group and tried more designs and eventually had some interaction with Meryl, I just knew this was THE place for me. I think its been near five years now.  I love to see everyones makes when they post. Its so inspiring.  PLUS, I found a couple very wonderful friends through Meryl that live in the UK. 

As you can see from the pictures, Sherri has a wonderful sense of humour and zest for life. It was so difficult to pick a design to feature as I think she has probably stitched virtually everything I’ve ever digitized so the cute Robin Gnome and Wreath Gnomes have been featured as one of the latest designs.
